[draft]Alpha Brawl[/draft] Alpha Brawl. :) I will keep an eye out for it. Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts. The Card Image Gallery is updated every day with the latest card previews. Awesome so it looks like spider spawning is green black. Effecient green beaters, undercosted Skaabs, tons of Mulches or other self-mill, and a Spider Spawning or two. Constructed: 1.0 By the end of his Dark Ascension pack, Sam had drafted two copies of Wolfhunter's Quiver, some green creatures, a Niblis of the Breath (which works exceptionally well with Wolfhunter's Quiver), and not much else of note. The green/blue Spider Spawning deck is probably one of my favorite draft archetypes of all time. draft decks I got to witness this past weekend. But given that the Dark Ascension/Innistrad Draft format is still in its infancy, there's still a lot of room for improvement of our understanding of how these decks should be drafted and built. I've looked a little bit through the cards, and it looks like the tribal decks would be Vampires, Werewolves, and Humans, is this correct? I provided a brief explanation as to why these archetypes have improved, as well as sample lists for each of them during the coverage for Pro Tour Dark Ascension. [draft]Black Cat[/draft] Black Cat. [draft]Immerwolf[/draft] This card turned out exceptionally well. As cool as the plan was, Neeman ultimately lost while playing for Day Two to a Gravepurge that replenished his opponent's library. Australian Pro Tour standout Jeremy Neeman was seen sideboarding into a very interesting deck in his first Draft pod at Pro Tour Dark Ascension. If I could artfully dodge reviewing cards like this, I would, but it really doesn’t feel right to not at least mention WHY cards like this aren’t good. From this point, Sam was free to go in one of any number of directions. For an aggressive tribe, a lord that can also attack is nice to have and they accomplish this with intimidate. I have to apologize for the delay in the set review, but juggling preparing for the Pro Tour, keeping the durdles in line, and thinking of awesome clever atrocious puns has been a little tough. While I wouldn't recommend going with Lost in the Woods every time you get your hands on it, it's definitely good to remember that you can use it to win matchups that would otherwise be extremely difficult. Other than that, Silent Departure is really good. Paying attention to signals in Draft is always important, but it is crucial that you have good reason to believe these archetypes are open before committing to them, otherwise it is unlikely there will be sufficient copies of key cards to go around in your Draft pool. Also, Gnaw to the Bone is amazing, and getting it 12th pick or later feels like cheating. [draft]Niblis of the Urn[/draft] Niblis of the Urn. Don't pass a Lingering Souls. on February 14, 2012. The really slick part, of course, is in preventing your werewolves from flipping back. But every once in a blue moon, your last pack won't give you a good reason to deviate from your main color either, and you'll find yourself with a monocolored Draft deck. After sixteen rounds of play in Standard and Booster Draft (all of which were covered in text and live streaming video), Pro Tour Dark Ascension culminated with a star-studded Top 8 including nine-time Pro Tour Top 8 competitor Paulo Vitor Damo da Rosa and Hall of Famers Jon Finkel (who recently made a commitment to go to every Pro Tour for the foreseeable future), eventual champion Brian Kibler, and Jelger Wiegersma. Given the abundant amount of foreshadowing I've already done, you probably already guessed that Sam drafted a green-blue deck that he ultimately 3–0ed his draft pod with. Of course your best option is to find the open colors, but G/W was the best archetype in the format. And also, any basic advice would be fantastic.
